The Sudbury Five were in London to take on the London Lightning in Game One of the Basketball Super League Semi-Finals, and as expected, it was a back and forth, closely contested game.

On the backs of performances from players such as Jermaine Haley, with 23 points in the game, and Billy White, with 20 points in the game, the London Lightning got off to a 27-23 lead at the end of the first quarter of play.

The Five would battle back in the second quarter and thanks to strong outings by JD Miller and Duane Notice, with 14 and 16 points respectively, Sudbury managed to tie the game 52-52 heading into halftime.

The Five had a very strong third quarter, scoring 30 points to London’s 27, with contributions from Ja’ Myrin Jackson with 16 points in the game and A.J. Mosby Jr., with 22 points in the game, and held an 82-79 lead heading into the fourth and final quarter of play.

The London Lightning stormed back in the fourth quarter, scoring 27 points while holding the Five to just 19 points of their own to win the game 106-101. With the loss, the Sudbury Five find themselves trailing 1-0 in the best-of-five Basketball Super League semi-finals.

The series shifts back to Sudbury for Game Two, which takes place on Monday, May 6 th , with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
