Highway 17 was reopened as of 10:37 p.m. May 5, according to Ontario 511. The road was closed for nearly seven hours.

Ontario511, the provincial highway traffic monitoring site, has reported that Highway 17 is closed, in all lanes, at Nairn Centre west of Sudbury.  Nairn Centre is a community approximately 52 kilometres west of downtown Sudbury. 

"Collision on HWY 17 Both Directions between Old Nairn Rd, Nairn Centre, NAIRN CENTRE and SPENCER LANE(S) NAIRN TWP, NAIRN. All lanes closed", said a notice posted on the website Sunday afternoon. A detour is reported to be available on Old Nairn Road. 

No additional information has been provided on the Ontario Provincial Police news web site or on the X (Twitter) sites used by the OPP in Northern and Northeastern Ontario as at 4 p.m. Sunday. 

No information was provided as to when the highway might be reopened.
