In loving memory of Vanessa Vellow 24 years. It is with shattered hearts her parents announce the devastating news, after suffering a severe asthma attack, she passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary, Alberta. Vanessa was born June 27, 1999, in Sudbury and had been living in Airdrie, Alberta at the time of her passing.

She is loved and cherished by her mom, Carrie Vellow (nee Handy) and her stepfather Brent Reid. Adored sister of Alysha (Joe), Cheyanne (Bruno), Rylee (Parker), and stepsister Mercedes (Carter). Her sweet nephews Dominic, Hudson, and Reid will miss her very much. She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by all her grandparents, aunts, uncles, many cousins, countless friends, and her coworkers at Environmental 360 Solutions and most of all her beloved childhood dog, Bella.

Vanessa had big dreams and an even bigger heart. She was a true gem and a free spirit with a quirky, sweet, and sassy attitude. Nessy had a unique infectious laugh that will leave a true and ever lasting impression on everyone’s life she impacted. She loved being in the kitchen, whether it was for cooking, baking or food prep for her meals for when she travelled out of town for work. She had completed culinary school in North Bay, Ontario, and it wasn’t long after that she started her grand adventure which led her to Alberta. She had big dreams and an even bigger heart. Her love of food was not enough, she wanted more. Vanessa’s love of the outdoors led her to working with a landscaping business in Canmore, Alberta. Still wanting to conquer more in her short lifespan, finally finding a new niche, and finding her last work family at Environmental 360 Solutions, where she was loved, valued, respected and quickly thrived with the company. Nessy loved tattoos, painting, road trips and so much more.

Carrie will be forever grateful for the superb care that Vanessa received by the staff and support staff at the Peter Lougheed Centre. Also, a special thanks to Katie Johnson.

As an expression of sympathy, contributions in Vanessa’s memory can be made to any PetSave or charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place in Calgary. A celebration of her life will be held at the Township of in Nairn & Hyman Community Centre, 64 McIntyre Street, Nairn Centre, Ontario on Saturday, May 11th, 2024, from 2-4 pm with words of remembrance at 3 pm.
