The Knights of Columbus (Council 6074) donated $2,000 toward the Westmount Community Centre this week.

The funds were raised by participating and volunteering with Delta Bingo and Gaming, and will go toward an outdoor rink project.

The project is described as revitalizing the rink to become an all-season multi-purpose space for the community.

In an online fundraiser, the Westmount Community Association describes the project as a means of increasing opportunities for physical activity for all citizens.

“We hope to inspire an early love of sports and fitness that will serve as the foundation for a healthy life,” they wrote.

The Knights of Columbus Council 6074 serves three parishes: St. Andrew the Apostle in Sudbury, St. John the Evangelist in Garson and St. Paul the Apostle in Coniston.
