In Loving Memory of Dragica "Dorothy" Malenica.

Dragica, known affectionately as Baba to many, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was 94 years old.

Dragica was born on December 29, 1929, in Sarajevo, Bosnia in the former Yugoslavia. She emigrated with her family to Sudbury, Ontario, Canada in 1969, where she worked as a seamstress and a volunteer with the local Serbian Orthodox Church and community. She moved with her family to Barrie, Ontario in her later years.

Dragica was the matriarch of the family. A devoted wife to her late husband, Marinko, she had shared in life's joys and sorrows with unwavering support. Dragica's greatest joy came from being a mother and grandmother. Her home was a sanctuary of love, joy, guidance, and acceptance.

Dragica's zest for life was inspiring, she could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. She had a passion for gardening, tending to her flowers with care. She loved sports, particularly tennis where she was Djokovic's oldest fan. She was a strong, independent woman years ahead of her time.

As we say goodbye to Dragica, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Dragica will be deeply missed by her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, extended family, friends, and her cat Dutchie. May she rest in eternal peace.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Peter and Paul Serbian Orthodox Church in Dragica's memory.

Forever in our hearts, our beloved Baba.
