It is with the saddest of hearts that we say goodbye to the matriarch of our family Marjorie Marcolini who passed away on Oct 2/21 at the age of 90. Marjie was the middle child of the Copper Cliff Lineham clan. With her 7 sisters and one poor long-suffering brother she would never need a close friend - they were always there to laugh and confide with and just enjoyed being in each others company. Siblings Helen (Cook), Betty (Kay) and Margaret (Lesarge) are left to mourn her. Charlie (Lineham), Rose (Poirier), Pat (Bryson), Dorothy (Hooey) and Celie (Pollesel) are there to greet her. As a girl mom danced, sang, and performed around the city with her younger sisters and mother Sophie on the piano. She would dance her way into our father’s heart - Walter, the handsome Italian from the West End. Together in the town of Lively they would raise 4 children - Tom (Sharon), Andrea (Vic), Chris (Fran) and Rob (Karen). But mom would save her patience for the grandkids - Elizabeth, Sean, Jesse, Katie, Samantha, Spencer, Everett, Emily, Adrian, and Liam. The great grandkids were an added delight with Joel, Jake, and Leah. Mom was a dedicated homemaker and learned from our Noni how to make dad’s favourite dishes. An amazing feat considering Noni spoke no English and mom no Italian. Mom nurtured her family less with words and more through food, sewing and knitting. Although quick with an opinion (whether it was asked for or not) she put kindness into action. Mom was the first person there to help family or friends in need. She cooked and baked for their causes. She was always there to drive a neighbour or friend to an appointment and previously was a volunteer driver for the Cancer Society. And when Parkinson’s struck dad she was his sole caregiver and would nurse him up until a month before his death. There would be no other man for her. Mom enjoyed the simple pleasures in life - bowling, golfing, playing cards and just sitting on the front steps having a coffee with the neighbours. She had been an active member of the Lively Seniors Centre enjoying and helping organize activities with Loretta, her partner in crime. But one of the mainstays of her life was her faith and the church community at St Pius X parish. There she would serve as a longstanding CWL member, and she sang in the choir for years. The friendships she forged with Elaine, Gisele and Fr. Patrick would sustain her over the later years. Our mother would ensure that we kept the faith. Be assured mom, we will do our best to honour you and dad. We won’t say goodbye, but “until we meet again”. Heartfelt thanks to the Meadowbrook staff and her loyal PSW Aurelia. Thank you to HSN 4th floor Palliative care crew - you were all awesome. Special thanks to Silvija and Chantal - you have chosen your profession well. Donations in Marjorie’s name can be directed to the Pregnancy Care Centre and Infant Food Bank. Funeral Mass at St. Pius X Church, Lively Thursday, October 7th, 2021 at 11am. Interment in the family plot at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may gather at the church after 10:45am Thursday. No funeral home visitation. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
