Filmmaker Alexandre Trudeau will be giving a presentation in Sudbury Oct. 23 about the challenges his career has presented.

The event, which benefits the Sudbury Community Foundation, starts at 12 p.m. at Ristorante Verdicchio's new Natura banquet hall.

During the course of his career, Trudeau — the second of three children born to former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and Margaret Trudeau and brother of federal Liberal leader Justin Trudeau — has reported from China, Iraq, Liberia, Haiti, Israel, Palestine, and Russia.

Trudeau’s most recent project is "The New Great Game", a documentary that traces the world’s most pivotal shipping route, the Straight of Hormuz, and reveals how ocean-wide trade is the foundation of a fraught and changing global economy.

He will touch the importance of philanthropy and discuss how community foundations are the cornerstone of every community. Trudeau is a member of the executive committee of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation.

Seating is limited. Tickets are $45 each or $240 for a table of six. To purchase tickets, contact Emily at the Sudbury Community Foundation at [email protected] or by phoning 705-673-7770.
